The Liability

Door Safety is a legal requirement where risk is present. These risks are clearly present when a public house has a play area for children or a restaurant or hotel encourages families. From nursery through to Sixth Form College, age is no discriminator when it comes to these accidents, risk and liability are the same. Any Civic building, Hospital, Library, Leisure Centre, Care Home etc., etc., with medium to high risk doors has potential to cause serious injury.

Those responsible for allowing avoidable accidents can be held accountable for criminal negligence with a magistrate's fine up to £20,000 and claims to compensate their victim. To say "but we have never had an accident" is unlikely and unlawful thinking. Proactive duty of care is expected, reactive duty of care is negligence.
